2017 breakthroughs in medicine dominated by gene and cell therapy
Some extraordinary developments in science and medicine took place in 2017, including treatment for Epidermolysis Bullosa, and promising results for blood diseases such as haemophilia and sickle cell disease. Strikingly, gene and cell therapy features heavily on en-of-year lists of general good news, lists of science breakthroughs and gene editing even warrants a list of its own.
